Bordenave’s is a wholesale bakery. Located in San Rafael. We supplied fresh baked bread daily to many of the finest restaurants, delis, and specialty grocery stores all over the Bay Area, for over a century.
We do not use any modern dough conditioners, chemicals, additives, nor preservatives of any kind.
We at Bordenave’s pride ourselves on the freshness of quality on all our products. We offer a wide selection of breads that vary in style, taste, grain and texture.
Each employee strives to acheive and maintain customer satisfaction; The close relationships we develop with our customers is proof of our success. We have a large and devoted clientele to showcase our great tasting breads. Bordenave’s has earned a reputation for extraordinary quality and creativity while maintaining very reasonable prices.

San Rafael Bakery Celebrates 100 Years Of Making Sourdough
History
Bordenave’s began in 1918, when Frank Bordenave arrived in the United States from France. Frank opened a bakery that was then called Parisian on B Street in San Rafael. In 1928 when these pictures were taken, Frank moved his bakery to 1553 Fourth Street. Not far from where the Bordenave’s bakery resides today at 1512 Fourth Street
During the Depression, Frank decided that he would shift his focus from baking cakes and pastries to specializing in baking quality bread products. His bread was so delicious that it soon became his main product. He used his artistic ability as a pastry chef and began to create a very large variety of breads. Since his passing, his wide selection of breads have continued to increase dramatically to the large selection found at Bordenave’s today.
